PBA (phenylboronic acid)
Special sorbent effective for separation of RNA and DNA and isolation of catecholamines from biological fluids. PBA is also used in analysis of cis-amino alcohols such as propanol. It exhibits unique selectivity when the functional groups (vicinal diols) are in the same plane. The phenylboronic acid functional group covalently linked to silica surface helps the highly specific tight binding of coplanar cis diol containing molecules like catechols, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lowmolecular weight proteins.

Polystyrene (PS)
This phase contains polymer with non-substituted polydivinylbenzene (particle size 50-160μm; surface pH: 4.5-7.5, density 0.25g/cm3 with 5%). It has high surface area (greater than 600m2/g) and therefore greater capacity than silica bonded reverse phase in extracting polar and non-polar compounds.

Polyamide
This phase contains polyamide resin (particle size 50-160μm; surface pH: 4.5-7.5, density 0.25g/cm3 with 5% water) used for extracting polar compounds from aqueous and methanolic matrices under reverse phase mode. This phase absorbs polar compounds containing hydroxyl and carboxyl groups like phenolic compounds from methanolic and aqueous solutions. Polyamide is useful for extracting tannins, humic acid, chlorophyll, terpenoids, gallic acid, flavonoids, phloroglucinol, catechol A, protocatechuic acid, aromatic carboxylic acids, nitrocompounds, etc. This can be used for removal of quinines, as they bind irreversibly.

DNPH
This is a special phase for the enrichment of carbonyl compounds. In this phase silica is
impregnated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH). The cartridges are packed in vacuum sealed bags for protection. Carbonyl compounds are adsorbed as 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine derivatives. The hydrazones can be eluted with acetonitrile from the cartridges.
Also available are different DNPH derivatives of ketones and aldehydes in high purity as standards.
